Reverend Paul J. Thomas is the Son of Sharon Betts Thomas and James M. Thomas. Born and reared in Philadelphia, PA, Rev. Thomas is the product of the Philadelphia school system. He matriculated at Central High School.
Rev. Thomas further developed his education at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania; a college/ University noted for leading the way in providing Blacks with higher education. He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree, in Human Services from Lincoln May 2004.
Rev. Thomas answered his call to ministry while at Lincoln University. Complying with the standards as prescribed by the African Methodist Episcopal Church, he delivered a Trial Sermon, Sunday, August 10, 2003 and was unanimously approved at Mt. Tabor AME Church (Pastor Martha A. Lang) –Philadelphia, PA.
Rev. Thomas continued his education at Turner Theological Seminary of the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, GA. From this institution he obtained the Master of Divinity Degree with a concentration in theology May 2007. While matriculating full time, Rev. Thomas also worked full time in Atlanta and served at Trinity AME Church (Pastor Jeffrey B. Cooper) –Atlanta, GA, in various positions. Rev. Thomas was ordained an Itinerant Deacon in the AME Church May 2007 at St. Matthew AME Church -1st Episcopal District by Bishop Richard Franklin Norris. He was again ordained in May 2009 as an Itinerant Elder in the AME church at Hickman Temple AME church by Bishop Richard Franklin Norris.
Currently Paul serves as an educator in the William Penn School District, Delaware County, PA. He is currently working towards the completion of a second master’s degree in Special Education. He has served in various capacities, notably: Youth Minister, Minister to youth in College, Adolescent Mentor, Administrator, Musician/ Director, supply-pastor –New Hope AME Church Haralson, GA, and now Pastor at New Bethel AME Church, Willow Grove, PA.
Rev. Thomas is a leader who advocates the empowerment and liberation of individuals every where. Paul’s ultimate desire is to impact as many people possible with the liberating Love of Christ.
